Sarajevo International Airport Implements Adiabatic Cooling System for Energy Savings During Summer

Sarajevo International Airport has launched an adiabatic cooling system for the chillers used to air-condition Terminal B during the summer months. The goal of implementing this system is to save electrical energy.

The adiabatic cooling system works by spraying high-pressure water around the equipment in the form of a fine mist, which reduces the air temperature around the cooling devices by up to 12°C. This method is energy-efficient because it allows the equipment to operate under optimal conditions with reduced load, directly decreasing electricity consumption.

Benefits of Implementing the Adiabatic Cooling System:

  • Energy Savings: Reduces electricity consumption by up to 30%
  • Extended Equipment Lifespan: Reduced load on the cooling machines prolongs their operational life
  • Environmentally Friendly Solution: Lower electricity consumption means reduced carbon dioxide emissions, positively impacting the environment
  • Financial Savings: Over time, reduced electricity consumption and extended equipment lifespan result in significant operational cost reductions

This initiative is part of Sarajevo Airport's strategy to increase energy efficiency and sustainability, positioning Sarajevo International Airport among those airports that employ innovative solutions for energy savings and environmental protection.
