A previous year has been remembered as a year of great results achieved for the busiest airport in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the record-breaking figures prove that. 1.377.348 passengers were handled at Sarajevo International Airport in 2022, what makes 20% more compared with a benchmarking year of 2019, and 15.451 air operations were performed, i.e. 13% more in comparison with a pre-pandemic year of 2019.
Twenty-eight airlines in total were operating from the Airport Sarajevo during 2022 and they connected Bosnia and Herzegovina with no less than 40 world and European destinations.
That the Airport Sarajevo is rapidly moving towards its new million, has been indicated by the results of ACI EUROPE which, according to statistics for September 2022, grouped the Airport Sarajevo in ''Top 5'' airports in group 4 (the airports to 5 million passengers) with the increase of even 36% in comparison with the same period of 2019, but also the fact that, in the month of October already, we set a record in relation to the number of passengers of 2019.
Continuation of positive business operations is expected in 2023 as well. With a successful ending of capital developmental projects and an increase of the existing capacities, which to a great extent, improve the level of service, preparations for the summer season are ongoing at the airport Sarajevo as well as negotiations with the airline companies that have expressed their interest for launching new routes from the capital of B&H.
