Exercise Aircraft Accident at Sarajevo International Airport – RED WING 9 held today

    An exercise Aircraft Accident at Sarajevo International Airport – RED WING 9 was held today at the Firefighting Training Site of Sarajevo International Airport.

     

    It was a crash simulation of ATZR 72 aircraft with 30 passengers and crew members, which crashed in the area of Sarajevo International Airport, specifically in the area of Sarajevo Airport Firefighting Training Site.

     

    The activities which were undertaken were in compliance with the Emergency Plan and the same implied the engagement of the employees of Sarajevo International Airport, the Institute for Emergency Health Care of Sarajevo Canton, the Professional Fire Departments – the Airport Unit and the Unit Stup, the Border Police of B&H and for the first time the Professional Fire Department Unit of Istočno Sarajevo and the Police Department of Istočno Sarajevo.

    Sarajevo International Airport is under obligation to carry out this type of the exercise every two years. The accident recreation and the exercise in its entirety were designed to verify the personnel competences and the operational efficiency of the Emergency Plan in place.

    The Action Committee, which was in charge of observing this exercise, evaluated the same as a successful one and commended the readiness, coordination and cooperation of all participants involved, and the same proved to be up to the task this time as well.
