Customers arriving were treated with a Sarajevo Card allowing them to explore the historic city

Qatar Airways resumed non-stop flights from Doha to Sarajevo International Airport. The service to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina is operating a three times-weekly schedule on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday with a flight time of just six hours.

The route is operated by Airbus A320 offering 12 seats in Business Class and 132 in Economy Class, and flight QR 0293 touched down at Sarajevo International Airport shortly before midday on 03 June, 2022.

Customers arriving on the flight were gifted complementary Sarajevo Cards entitling them to access a range of attractions including the National Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina and travel on the city’s trams.

The resumption of flights, which first began in 2017, means passengers can now enjoy seamless connectivity to more than 145 destinations across the airline’s extensive global network via the Best Airport in the World, Hamad International Airport, including popular destinations across Asia, Africa, North America and Australia.

Mr. Mate Hoffman, Qatar Airways Regional Manager for Southern Europe said: “I was pleased to be in Sarajevo to welcome the first of our resumed flights. As the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, this is a popular gateway into the country for both business and leisure travelers from across our network. With three weekly flights in service, passengers travelling from Sarajevo are now connected seamlessly again to more than 145 destinations, via our state-of-the-art hub in Doha. This includes great connections to destinations across Australia and East Asia.”

Managing Director of Sarajevo International Airport, Mr. Alan Bajić added:

‘’Today, to our satisfaction, an airline company Qatar Airways resumed flights from Sarajevo to Doha after a suspension of two years. This extremely significant airline company will enable that the citizens of Qatar discover a rich tourist offer of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina and that our citizens visit Qatar, as well as other faraway destinations, travelling through one of the largest hubs in the world.’’

Qatar Airways Cargo will re-commence belly hold service to Sarajevo, supporting local trade growth with the export of agricultural and food products, furniture, garments, textiles and automotive parts, as well as the import of consumer goods and electricals. Every week, the cargo carrier will offer more than five tonnes each way on the three times weekly Airbus A320 flights.

Sarajevo, a sophisticated city, captivates tourists with its intriguing juxtaposition of past and present. Visitors can wander through Baščaršija, Sarajevo's bazaar built during the Ottoman period, or visit the Yellow Fortress, which offers a spectacular view of the city. In winter, Sarajevo's mountain resorts Bjelašnica and Jahorina offer some of Europe's best-value skiing.
