XIV Olympic Winter Games in Sarajevo started on this day 38 years ago. Over 2500 participants and tourists arrived to Sarajevo in a period from 8th to 19th of February 1984.
During the Games and before their beginning, the air traffic at the airport Sarajevo was increased and between 50 and 70 flight operations were operated daily. That was the first time, we had landing of JATs largest passenger aircraft DC-10 on a flight route directly from New York. Besides, the landing of large intercontinental aircraft types 1011-Tristar, B-707, DC-8 and many others was recorded on several occasions.
It is important to emphasize that record air traffic was recorded on the last day of WOG '84, i.e. 14,000 passengers were processed without any delays or mistakes in the handling process.
