Olympic torch arrived in Sarajevo, 35 years after the '84 Winter Olympic Games

    The flame of peace for EYOF 2019 (European Youth Olympic Festival) arrived in Sarajevo from Banja Luka by the Flybosnia plane, especially branded for this occasion.
    This biggest sporting event in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held after the Winter Olympic Games, will gather over 1.000 athletes from 46 European countries.
    EYOF (European Youth Olympic Festival), the biggest sporting Olympic festival for young athletes (14 – 18 years old), will this year take place in Sarajevo and East Sarajevo from February 9 to 16, 2019.
    The delegation of EYOF 2019, led by the mayor of Sarajevo and East Sarajevo, Abdulah Skaka and Nenad Vuković, took over the „Peace torch“ in Rome on Thursday, 31.01.2019 from the European Olympic Committee.
    After that the torch continued its way first to Banja Luka where it was given an official reception in the building of the Government of the Republic of Srpska, and then to Sarajevo, where it was welcomed warmly at Sarajevo International Airport.
    The torch in Sarajevo was welcomed by members of BiH Presidency, Šefik Džaferović and Željko Komšić, as well as Denis Zvizdić, the chairman of BiH Council of Ministers.
