Sarajevo International Airport saw off its 1st millionth passenger in 2018

Aida Birno, who flied to Istanbul, on board the Turkish Airlines aircraft, is the first millionth passenger in a calendar year at Sarajevo International Airport. The jubilee passenger was awarded on this occasion with a voucher for Duty Free Shop at „Sarajevo“ airport and one free return ticket Sarajevo – Istanbul.
„I fly to Istanbul on business. So far I have been reading in newspapers about similar jubilees, but now, when I am the one millionth passenger, the feeling is rather surreal and beautiful at the same time", said Birno.
This figure means the 9 per cent increase in comparison with the same period last year, and even 25 per cent compared to 2016. With more than a million passengers a year, almost 13.000 flights and air transport of more than 2 million kg of cargo, Sarajevo International Airport is the most successful airport in BiH.
Director of Sarajevo International Airport, Armin Kajmaković, who awarded the present to a lucky passenger, said that this was an important event in the history of SIA.
"My sincere congratulations to our one millionth passenger, as well as to our long- time partner Turkish Airlines, as the one of our most important and strategic partners that has transported 20 per cent of the total number of passengers from Sarajevo International Airports. Hence, it is not surprising that our millionth passenger is on board Turkish Airlines plane", said Kajmaković.
The free two-way ticket Sarajevo-Istanbul was handed over by director of Turkish Airlines branch office in Sarajevo, Ahmet Salih Kansu.
He emphasized that this carrier has been present at Sarajevo International Airport for 22 years.
Sarajevo International Airport is our very important partner and we are happy that its first millionth passenger was recorded on board the aircraft of Turkish Airlines", said Kansu.
